This video is unbelievably touching – and a great piece of positive pit bull press! Pit bulls lend a helping paw to blind children, showing their true colors as lovable, loyal, intelligent and faithful companion animals.
The real story, however, is the fact that NBC decided to do a positive pit bull piece. Kudos to them for taking the road less traveled, despite Jillian Rappaport’s insistence on bringing the breed’s “bad rap” up more than once, and almost ending the segment with this suggestive line, “This is definitely an aggressive… not aggressive, but dominant, breed…”.
As pit bull advocates we’re used to taking what we can get, and this piece will certainly help to get these dogs some much deserved praise and pro-pit bull exposure. I did like the message we were left with at the close of the video by Meredith Viera, who reminded us that just like people, some dogs are good, and some are bad.
Update – 1/4/11 – For some reason MSNBC has removed this video…
I am unable to find the video hosted anywhere else, so if anyone knows where I may find it please let me know!

The clip has since been removed from their website (not sure why), but you can read my thoughts on it here – Pit Bulls Helping the Blind […]
