Pit Bulls in Time

October 6, 2008 by z3admin 8 Comments

Once upon a time, the American Pit Bull Terrier was a highly revered war hero and respected family pet. The American Pit Bull Terrier was referred to by many as a “nanny dog” because of the way they look after, display gentleness toward and care for children. The pit bull’s likeness was used in print advertisements as a symbol of stability and honor.

In an effort to get back to the ‘glory days’ of these dogs, I have compiled an album of some great historical photos showing Pit Bulls of the past. Pitbull Heroes

May 19, 2008 by z3admin 18 Comments

All admirers of this breed know that the American Pit Bull Terrier is capable of some pretty amazing feats. The dogs featured in this article are true canine all-stars, risking their lives to save that of their family and using their intelligence, dedication, obedience and loyal nature to protect those they love. Enjoy the stories below featuring these pit bull heroes and be sure to spread the word of their good deeds, the more positive Pit Bull press that is out there, the better is for our dogs. The term Pit Bull is a relatively non-descriptive one as it is not an officially recognized breed by the American Kennel Club, or AKC, standards. There is actually no dog that is a true “Pit Bull”. Instead, when people use the word Pit Bull, they are typically referring to a particular subset of dogs that maintain physical and behavioral similarities. On Save A Bull I use the term Bully and Pit Bull interchangeably because they are both ways to describe these breeds that are within the Molosser family of dogs – a breed known for its courage and loyalty. Pit Bull Myths

March 17, 2008 by z3admin 2 Comments

Aren’t Pit Bulls mean? Well so-and-so told me they have a special enzyme in their mouth that lets their jaws lock together! My cousin said to NEVER adopt a pit from the shelter because of their unknown history – they will just turn on you in an instant. Those are just a few of my favorite Pit Bull myths I have come across when people find out I own a Pit Bull. Now for the truth: [Read more…]
