Pit Bull Service Dogs – The Peanut Butter Sniffing Dog

January 14, 2011 by z3admin 2 Comments

We all know dogs like peanut butter (especially Mr. Tucker, The Peanut Butter Pitbull). But have you ever heard of a peanut butter sniffing service dog? Meet Layla, the rescued pit bull mix.

For Grey, a little boy with a deadly peanut allergy, Layla the pit-bull mix is a savior. Couch potato turned working dog, Layla has spent the past few months working with dog trainer Mike Stone to hone her peanut identification skills.

She’s now ready to return to her family in New York, and take on her new job as Grey’s companion – checking to make sure his way throughout the world is free from the peanuts. As a result of her training, Layla is now able to sniff out peanut containing items like sandwiches and candy bars – even crumbs!
