Pit Bull Hero – Pitbull Saves Family in Fire

Diamond, a 15 month old Pit Bull was given this year’s National Hero Dog award by the SPCA in Los Angeles.

Diamond showed this often misunderstood breed’s true colors during an apartment fire at the Steen residence last October. Diamond the Pit Bull not only stayed in the house with the Steen family’s oldest daughter when she was unable to escape, she actually laid on top of Sierra. By placing her body over top of Sierra she shielded her from fire, and remained in place even when it meant that she sustained burns on her own body. Sierra and Diamond were rescued by fire fighters, and have made a full recovery. [Read more…]

Pit Bulls Save Chihuahua From Coyote

In Littleton, Colorado, Buster the Chihuahua mix went out early on a Saturday morning for his regular bathroom break. While outside taking care of his business, the Chihuahua was brutally attacked by a coyote in his owner’s backyard. Luckily for Buster, the neighbor’s Pit Bulls were also out doing their morning ritual at the same time, and they chased the coyote as it ran off with Buster. [Read more…]

Walter – A True Breed Ambassador

Walter the Pit Bull was left on the streets to die. See how this tiny puppy once affected with mange has blossomed into a happy, healthy and well adjusted adolescent.

Kudos to the Today Show and NBC for airing this Pit Bull positive article! We need more clips like this to be aired in the mainstream media to help change people’s perceptions about these wonderful dogs. MSNBC also featured a story of pit bull service/therapy dogs assisting blind children. While the media would like to fear bomb you into believing that all pitbulls are unstable killers that can snap at any moment, nothing could be further from the truth. When bred properly, trained using positive reinforcement and in the hands of experienced owners, pitbulls have proven time and time again that they are well mannered, stable, friendly and loyal family companions.
