Justice for Parrot

WARNING – Graphic photo contained showing police officer holding Parrot on the ground.

I’m truly so disgusted by this story that I am at a loss for words.

What I will say is this – when a police officer chooses to be part of law enforcement they take an oath. This oath is a verbal contract binding them to uphold key principles related to integrity, character, honor and trust in service to their community.

Let’s for a moment quickly review what those little words mean in terms of police work.

Dogs and Fireworks Help

Jun 29, 2011 by

Take a moment to think about all the different, seemingly imperceptible sounds your pet can hear. Not only can they hear within a larger range, the shape of their ears also helps them to pick up sounds that often escape our senses. Think then how loud a firework might be to your best friend, the same dog that can hear the shaking of a cookie jar 2 floors away or the mailman dropping off a package 20 doors down. Pit Bull Hero – Pitbull Saves Family in Fire

May 11, 2011 by

Diamond, a 15 month old Pit Bull was given this year’s National Hero Dog award by the SPCA in Los Angeles.

Diamond showed this often misunderstood breed’s true colors during an apartment fire at the Steen residence last October. Diamond the Pit Bull not only stayed in the house with the Steen family’s oldest daughter when she was unable to escape, she actually laid on top of Sierra. By placing her body over top of Sierra she shielded her from fire, and remained in place even when it meant that she sustained burns on her own body. Sierra and Diamond were rescued by fire fighters, and have made a full recovery.

Cooked Bones and Dogs

10 Reasons Why Cooked Bones Are Bad For Dogs:

1. Broken teeth or torn gums. While certainly not life threatening, a broken tooth or injured gum can cause a lot of pain for your dog, and may also require pricey dental work.

2. Bone may get stuck in or around your dog’s lower jaw. Because of the way your dog’s mouth is shaped, bones can become easily lodged both within and around the lower jaw. Depending on the way the bone is jammed, this may require a veterinary visit for removal and/or treatment of the injured tissue.

3. Mouth and tongue may get cut or injured. Again, not necessarily deadly, but can prove to be a very painful experience for your pet and a costly one for you if the injured area becomes infected.
