Tyler Eison so eloquently -- if inelegantly -- underscores the message that I have been shouting from the rooftops for years -- Pit bulls are TRAINED to be vicious; it is not their genetic destiny. I hope some of my posts on this subject have reached the appropriate, incorrectly propagandized audience. That said, Mr. Eison's dogs should be rescued by any means -- and I do mean BY ANY MEANS (short of SIGNIFICANT bodily harm or death) -- and retrained, if possible. If this is not possible for some, they should be permitted to live out their natural lives, protecting other living things from them, with as much comfort, care, compassion and dignity as possible. As for you, Mr. Eison, I regret that another criminally clueless idiot, Timothy Treadwell -- "Grizzly Man" -- never took you camping. If there is any justice in the world, you will stumble into a pit of wolverines on a thirty day starvation diet, after having had an unfortunate gravy accident. I recognize that these latter editorial comments may preclude approval of this post, but I feel better for having made them. In any case, I fervently hope you have not had the opportunity to have produced and raised children. The human gene pool would be well-served by your exclusion. Should this tragedy have occurred, I sincerely hope the mother has custody and you have been denied visitation.

Please write to the editor of the Village Voice. If published, your point of view will reach many more readers than those at your website. An article like that deserves a rebuttal and you are articulate enough to do it.
